Barefoot Resort Golf Courses - Norman Course
The Norman course at Myrtle Beach Barefoot Resort is a Par 72 course that plays approximately 7,200 yards long.
The Norman course unique in many ways. With only 60 acres of mow-able grass on the 18 hole layout, architect Greg Norman used waste areas and the site's natural vegetation to frame each hole beautifully.
The course has a southwest desert / target golf feel to it, despite the Lowcountry charm, and has seven holes along the scenic Intracoastal Waterway — perhaps the finest holes in all of Myrtle Beach.
The course's generous bunkers display sloping white faces similar to a MacKenzie-style design, with intermittent sod wall bunkering at strategic locations throughout.
The Norman course can be challenging for newcomers, with open greens and fairways that run up to sand, yet it remains highly playable and provides a thoroughly pleasing round.
Barefoot Resort Norman tees and fairways are GN-1, a hybrid turf developed by Greg Norman Turf. The approach areas are Tif dwarf grass, greens surfaces are A-1 bentgrass, and in the rough areas include Zoysia grass, adding dramatic color, texture and contrasts against the fairways.
